Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the LibLang mobile application and website (the "Service"), operated by Riversource Ltd, trading as LibLang, a company registered in England & Wales (Company No. 16499431), with its registered office at 2nd Floor College House, 17 King Edwards Road, Ruislip, London, HA4 7AE, United Kingdom ("we", "us", "our").

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use LibLang. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

2. Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must provide accurate information when registering and keep it up to date. You must not share your account with others or allow unauthorised access.

3. Free and Premium Tiers

LibLang offers free and paid subscription tiers:

  • Free: Access to starter courses, Word of the Day, Daily Challenges, Rusty Words practice, Word Search, and Numbers games. Limited to 2 starter courses.
  • Premium: Access to all courses, the Course Builder, Course Requests, and all future premium content.

Features included in each tier may change from time to time to reflect improvements, legal or security requirements, technical changes, or changes to our content offering. If we make a material adverse change to a paid subscription tier, we will give you reasonable notice through the Service or by email, and where appropriate you may cancel before the next billing cycle.

4. Subscriptions and Billing

Premium subscriptions are available at:

  • Monthly: £6.99 per month
  • Annual: £49.99 per year

New subscribers may be eligible for a 14-day free trial. Unless cancelled before the end of the trial period, your subscription will automatically renew at the applicable rate. If payment details are collected at the start of the trial, you will be charged at the end of the trial unless you cancel beforehand.

Subscriptions renew automatically for the same billing period at the then-current price until cancelled. You will be notified in advance of any price changes, which will take effect from the next renewal date.

You can manage or cancel your subscription through:

  • App Store / Play Store: Your device's subscription settings.
  • Web (Stripe): Your LibLang account settings or by contacting us.

5. Cancellation and Refunds

You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period unless otherwise required by applicable law. You will retain access to premium features until the end of the period you have paid for.

App Store / Play Store purchases: Billing, cancellation, and refunds are handled under the respective platform's rules and refund policies.

Web (Stripe) purchases: Your rights to cancel and receive a refund are subject to applicable consumer law. Where you ask us to begin supplying paid digital services immediately, you acknowledge that this may affect your cancellation rights to the extent permitted by law.

Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory cancellation or refund rights you have under consumer law.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' accounts or our systems
  • Submit abusive, hateful, or offensive content through tickets or course requests
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
  • Use automated tools to scrape content or overload our systems
  • Resell or redistribute course content without permission

7. Content and Intellectual Property

All course content, dictionary entries, game mechanics, and design elements are owned by Riversource Ltd or its licensors. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without written permission.

Content you create (e.g. personal courses, ticket submissions, course requests) remains yours. By submitting content to the Service, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, process, display, adapt, and use that content solely for the purpose of providing and improving the Service, subject to our Privacy Policy. You confirm that you have the rights to submit any content you provide.

8. Third-Party Services and Platforms

LibLang uses third-party services to provide its features, including:

  • Resend — email delivery
  • Expo / Apple Push Notification Service / Firebase Cloud Messaging — push notifications
  • Anthropic — AI-assisted content generation
  • Google Cloud Translation — translation services
  • Stripe — payment processing (web)

Subscriptions purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store are also governed by the terms of the respective platform. We are not responsible for the policies or practices of those platforms.

9. Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, including immediately where reasonably necessary for security, legal compliance, fraud prevention, or serious breach, if we reasonably believe that you have:

  • Breached these Terms
  • Created a security or legal risk
  • Engaged in fraud, abuse, or misuse
  • Used the Service in a way that may harm LibLang, other users, or third parties

Where appropriate, we may remove content, restrict features, or suspend access while investigating. We may also discontinue the Service as a whole on reasonable notice.

If your paid account is terminated for breach, you will not be entitled to a refund for the remaining subscription period unless required by applicable law. Nothing in this section affects any rights you may have under applicable consumer law.

10. Service Availability

We aim to keep the Service available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, updates, or reasons beyond our control. Some features, including AI-assisted elements, course building tools, and experimental features, may change, be withdrawn, or remain in development.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. Language learning content is provided for educational purposes and may contain errors. Nothing in this section limits any statutory rights you may have as a consumer.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Riversource Ltd shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising from or relating to the Service shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under English law.

13. Consumer Rights

Nothing in these Terms affects any statutory rights you have as a consumer under applicable law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will give you reasonable notice via the app or email. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you should stop using the Service and cancel any paid subscription before the changes take effect. By continuing to use the Service after the revised Terms take effect, you agree to the updated Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. You and we agree that the courts of England and Wales will normally have jurisdiction, without affecting any mandatory rights you may have under applicable consumer law.
